We have both spent over 15 years nursing in A & E before changing course for a different type of service industry in October 2006, when we purchased Glendevon Guest House from the lovely Suzanne and Adrian Everix who passed on their goodwill and reputation along with many returning guests!

Glendevon Guest House offers a quiet and convenient location for anyone visiting the area along with excellent value for money.

Our main aim is to provide you with clean, comfortable accommodation that offers a healthy, restful night’s sleep and an enjoyable, hearty breakfast. We also want to ensure our home and business runs in the most eco-friendly way that is viable.

Since arriving in October 2006, we have changed the beds to wooden alternatives, mattresses to posture foam, all-seasons double duvets, choice of firm and soft pillows – all of which are hypoallergenic, and anti dust mite and bed bug. We have also purchased a special vacuum cleaner for allergy sufferers (Miele Allervac Sensor 5000) to ensure carpets are as clean as possible and for easy access for under the beds etc.

At breakfast, we only use free-range eggs, Heinz baked beans, Brand name cereals, Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar. Our wholemeal and white bread is baked on the premises and we use home made marmalades and jams.

Arrivals and Departures
Rooms are ready by 3pm (1500hrs) but it is worth phoning us the day before to let us know what time you expect to arrive and to check if your room may be ready earlier. Even if your room is not ready before 3pm, you are welcome to pick your key up earlier and leave your luggage in our hallway until you return.

Check out time is 1030hrs during the week and 1100hrs at weekends.

Accommodation
What is unique about Glendevon is that all our units have a kitchen/dining area that is fully equipped with:
• Microwave or combi-oven
• Electric oven with 4 hobs (except rooms 1 & 3)
• Standard sized fridge
• Toaster
• Kettle
• Sink and drainer with washing-up equipment
• Cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils
• Dining table and chairs
• Complimentary Fairtrade teabags, coffee and decaffeinated coffee, brown/white sugar/sweetener, UHT milk and cream
• Recycling bowl under sink for recycling clean glass, plastic bottles, paper, card and cans.

In most units the kitchen/diner is offset or in a separate room to the bedroom.

All rooms have a remote controlled TV with Freeview and a video recorder and there is a selection of videos for all ages on the 2nd floor. A variety of books (including local interest books) and games can be found on the 1st floor including chess, cards and Scrabble.

Location
Glendevon Guest House offers a quiet and convenient location. It is situated 100 metres back from East Cliff just behind the large Granville building and cinema (which shows all the up-to-date movies) and is only a 10-minute walk to Ramsgate’s town and harbour. It is a 5-minute walk to Ramsgate’s Seaside Award popular sandy beach, which has lifeguards, donkey rides and many other attractions for all ages including designated jet-ski area adjacent to the main beach.

If you walk in the other direction along the promenade and through King George VI Park (check out the bright green parakeets that frequent the children’s playing ground to the north of the park if you get a chance) following the main path, you will come out at Dumpton Gap cliffs (15-minute walk) and you can continue to walk along the promenade until you get to Broadstairs (walking time approximately 20-25 minutes – if you stop for an ice-cream!).

Glendevon guesthouse is situated on the Viking Coastal Trail for walkers and cyclists, which you can find out more about from www.vikingcoastaltrail.co.uk. Guests are welcome to bring their bicycles where we have a garage for locked storage (owners leave bicycles at own risk).
