The hostel, converted from a hotel, is on the beachfront at Westbrook Bay, which boasts a gently shelving sandy beach. A five-minute stroll along the promenade takes you to Margate’s main beach with its lively attractions and arcades. Be warned - with Dreamland Fun-Park and arcades galore, you’ll have trouble dragging the kids away from their candyfloss! Its location can offer a beach holiday to a walking, cycling and water sports adventure. YHA Margate over looks the "blue Flag" beach of Westbrook Bay.

The hostel has free internet access via wireless LAN. In addition there is a library, cycle store and cycle hire facility. Meals are available and there are BBQ areas, a dining room and kitchen, a self catering kitchen, a drying room, laundry facilities, shower, washing machine, luggage store and toilets. We welcome under 3s and cots are available.

Why Margate?
There are many local attractions including Shell Grotto, the historic Old Town, one of the oldest theatres in the UK, Pubs, Clubs, Restaurants, Bowling - ten pin and on green - and amusement arcades/parks. You could make a day-trip to Dickens’ Broadstairs, Regency Ramsgate, medieval Sandwich, Dover Castle or the City of Canterbury. With the high speed rail links to London opening in 2007 and the new Turner centre, Margate is about to become the contemporary arts centre for the South East. It also makes a good base for those on route for the continent. Day trips to France and Belgium via Dover or Ramsgate are popular excursions.
