Details: The Walpole Bay Hotel was built for discerning guests in 1914, extended in 1927 and is now being lovingly restored to her former glory by the Bishop Family. It was built by Louisa Budge and stayed in her family until 1995.

From the moment you enter The Walpole Bay Hotel you step back in time to the ambience of a bygone era. Whether your visit be on business or for pleasure you will appreciate the level of comfort and service the Walpole provides, with our spacious lounges, flower decked veranda, Edwardian restaurant, snooker room and our 1920s Ballroom with its original sprung maple dance floor. The Walpole has a full licence and two bars in which to entertain you.

The Walpole's wonderful 1927 Otis Trellis gated lifts serves all five floors and is the centre piece of our Museum. The Living Museum will eventually engulf the entire Hotel and it is most interesting browsing through our memorabilia and documentation or absorbing our educational displays on the Isle of Thanet with its 26 miles of sandy beaches, geological features and archaeological remains.

There are so many attractions and places of interest to visit such as The Shell Grotto, Quex House, many museums and Galleries, five theatres including the second oldest in Britain, The Theatre Royal or the smallest, The Tom Thumb. From live entertainment at The Winter Gardens to building sand castles our guests experience no difficulty in finding enjoyment in our area.

Accommodation
The Walpole has 37 en-suite rooms, five of which have two bedrooms, so are ideal for families or groups of friends. We are also a pet friendly hotel as our coastline is a paradise for doggy walks! Each of our rooms have tea & coffee making facilities, an iron, ironing board and hairdryer, telephones with computer ports and satellite TV.

Most of our rooms have balconies, and as Walpole is positioned at right angles to the cliffs every room has stunning, uninterrupted sea views. Thanet is famous for its sun rises and sun sets over the sea as is evidenced by the Turner Centre being opened here, and Walpole Guests have a front row seat everyday! Our friendly and helpful staff are on hand 24 hours a day to cater to your needs and assist where necessary to ensure that you feel that you are home away from home.

Restaurant / Dining Room
We are open from 7:00am and serve breakfast until 9:30am. Special diets are catered for but we must be informed of any special requirements at the time of your booking.
Bar snacks are served at lunchtime between 12 and 2pm.
Cream Teas are served from 2pm until 5pm
Dinner is served from 7pm until 9pm
Room service is available at an extra charge. Please ask for the details at the Reception.
We are internationally famous for our Traditional Sunday Lunches and Walpole Cream Teas which are a must during your stay!

Golf
Welcome to the home of golf in East Kent. The Walpole Bay Hotel is situated on the north coast and is surrounded by the most traditional links courses in the south of England. With over 20 courses to choose from within half an hours travel from the Walpole, East Kent offers the best of golfing conditions all year around. With our coastal position, all local courses hold a unique challenge, so if you are an accomplished golfer or a relative novice, you will find a course nearby to suit your needs.

Functions
The Walpole is such a unique and romantic venue that we now specialise in hosting private events. From small meetings to conferences, exhibitions and lectures, networking and training weekends to hosting beautiful wedding receptions, themed weekends, costumed murder mystery parties, theatre Supper nights and Dinner Dance Parties.

However, we are still more than able to cater for those clients who just wish to escape the madding crowd and come to relax, enjoy the quietness and lose themselves on all that is Walpole!
