As well as being members of Tourism South East, we are signatories to the Dover District Council voluntary tourism code of practice. Also we are certified holders under the "Welcoming Walkers and Cyclists" charter, organised by the South East England Tourist Board.
By arrangement, we will meet walkers/cyclists at Bus/Train Stations within the area. We will also transport luggage etc. to their next destination.
Coldred is on top of the North Downs above Dover and at nearly 400 ft, one of the highest places in East Kent. The village comprises some 55 assorted dwellings and less than 150 inhabitants. The name of the village is thought to derive from the charcoal burners who used to live here.
Coldred is a conservation area and won the "BestKeptSmallVillage" title in 1993 and "Kent's BestKeptVillage" in both 1996 and 1997. Village life is centred on the Norman built St. Pancras Church and the village hostelry "The Carpenters Arms", which has a mason's mark dated 1716 over the fireplace.
Colret House is situated in the village of Coldred just off the A2, 10 miles south east of Canterbury and 4 miles from Dover and the Ferry Terminals.
We are 1 hour's drive from the Dartford Crossing on the M25. Colret House is ideally situated for that useful, and in many cases essential, overnight stay for those travelling to or from the Continent either by ferry via Dover or on the shuttle through the tunnel.
The House overlooks the village green and has extensive, well tended gardens. In 1997, we erected two self-contained double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms adjacent to the house. Each has its own front door and key.
It is these rooms which are available to guests.

We welcome children and you may bring dogs by arrangement.
