Hemsted Forest, mainly comprised of coniferous trees, provides a lovely background for relaxing walks.
The site is particularly popular with dog walkers and horse riders.A walk of 3.8 miles (6km) follows the forest road. The paths are wide but with continual climbs and descents for the first half of the walk, including a slope up from the car park entrance to the start of the walk. The hard stone surface - which generally diminishes in quality after the farmhouse - is coarse in places, with occasional potholes and cross slopes. Hemsted is a working forest, so please obey all warning signs.
