We are ideally placed, being in the South East of England in Kent, for the Channel Tunnel (5 min) and Ferries at Folkestone and Dover (20 min). Whether you are travelling by the Channel Tunnel or by the Ferries at Dover and Folkestone, 'Maccassil' is the ideal stopover.
Maccassil is a Family run Bed and Breakfast with a warm welcome guaranteed. We offer Family, Double, Twin and Single bedrooms - all with their own private bathrooms and situated at ground floor level, ideal for the elderly or disabled. All are tastefully decorated with colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

Bed and Breakfast Hythe
We believe our prices to be the best available in Hythe for ensuite accommodation - Hotel Standard Accommodation at Bed and Breakfast prices.
We serve a Hearty Traditional English Breakfast or if preferred a lighter Continental Breakfast. At Maccassil guests have their own separate entrance that enables them to come and go as they please, as well as private parking at the rear of the premises.

Local area
Maccassil Guest House is situated in Hythe in Kent in the south east corner of England close to the channel ports of Dover and Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel. From the M25 motorway take the M20 towards Folkestone and Dover. Leave the M20 at J11 and head south for ¼ mile. Take 2nd exit towards A261 and Hythe. Turn left onto A261 after ½ mile.

Maccassil Guest House is ideally located for all types of seaside activities - a family beach holiday, a relaxing week-end break in the sea air, fishing (European championship held on our beach every year), Sailing and Windsurfing (Hythe & Saltwood Sailing Club's HQ is 100 metres away), the choice is endless.

Hythe means 'Haven' and a haven it is. The character of the promenade has remained unchanged since the early 1900s so there is none of the razzmatazz associated with some seaside resorts.

Fishing

Hythe is a Haven for the Angler

Sea fishing
The seafronts of Hythe, Sandgate and Folkestone provide miles of easy-to-access beaches for the sea angler. Throughout the year major angling championships are held, and in the summer months the waters often come alive with huge mackerel shoals as they chase sprats into the bay. Pier fishing is available at Folkestone Harbour and the ports of both Folkestone and Dover offer boat fishing outings to those ‘hot spots' in the channel.

Coarse Fishing
The Royal Military Canal provides excellent sport for the coarse angler. Carp, tench, bream, roach, rudd and pike are in abundance - and to specimen weights. A national environment agency rod licence is required and day tickets priced at £4 can be purchased from the canal bank.

At West Hythe (on the A259) Nickolls Leisure Park provides freshwater angling of the highest order. A deep water, 25 acre former gravel pit that boasts carp to 34lb, roach and rudd to 3lb, perch to 4lb, bream to 7lb and eels to 9lb. Winning competition weights often exceed 50lbs and it is not unusual for carp anglers to exceed ten fish in a single session. Day tickets costing £10 must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance from the resident bailiff, Derrick Weller, on 07970 704584.

Walking
There are several places in and around Hythe where you can walk, jog, cycle.

Beside The Sea
The spacious promenade stretches as far as the eye can see with plenty of room for walkers, joggers and cyclists. The village of Sandgate is about 3 miles away and Folkestone is a distance of 5 miles.

In The Countryside
The beautiful, tree-lined waters of the Royal Military Canal pass through the centre of Hythe and offer lovely country walks both east and west. A cycle path runs along the north bank of the canal from Seabrook to West Hythe - a distance of approximately 6 miles.

There are numerous footpaths and bridleways in Hythe and the surrounding area and a number of circular walks and cycle routes that explore the town and its historic past. An interactive map with full details can be found at www.hythe-kent.com/tourism/walks01.htm.
