Our new team of chefs offer a superb range of fresh, locally prepared menus which are well complemented by our new wine list.
The four beautifully furbished historic rooms offer all the comforts you have come to expect, yet maintains all the character of a 14th century Coaching Inn.
Here at the Chequers we can offer all the style of a 14th century coaching Inn but with the comfort and facilities you have come to expect when you stay away. We can offer 4 beautifully and sympathetically refurbished rooms; 2 doubles, 1 twin and a family room that sleeps 3.
Our four poster room has a wealth of romantic charm and like the others offers:

As well as our advertised rates we also offer special packages throughout the year giving you the chance to stay a little longer and appreciate all the sites of the area.
The Chequers is the perfect get away in one of Englands finest and oldest villages. Smarden is only 10 miles from both Ashford and Maidstone and only 50 miles from London with direct rail links from Pluckley and Headcorn if you are looking to escape the city.
We also offer the perfect stop over if you are travelling on or returning home from the channel tunnel for any trips to Europe.

Facilities
As well as the comfortable interior of the Inn we also have beautifully laid out and well kept gardens.
Alongside the lawns and beds we have a large carp pond making this an idyllic setting to unwind and relax.
If you are looking for a larger function we can accommodate a marquee on the lawns and cater for up to 100 guests.
The barn also offers more intimate dining or meeting facilities and can accommodate up to 40 guests. It is situated by the terrace area overlooking the gardens and makes an idyllic setting for all manner of functions from Business Parties, Conferences, Breakfast Meetings or Seminars to Private Parties, Weddings, Christenings or just dinner with friends.
A host of activities can be arranged for you and your clients for business meetings and team building exercises.
