Built in 1602, the hotel was visited by Queen Anne in 1704 and her coat of arms is displayed above the door. A sense of history pervades the building, with its large open fire, oak beams and courtyard, while its 24 rooms, function suite and business facilities meet 21st century standards.

Authentic Kentish beer is available, with distinctive cask ales kept in perfect condition, as well as a good selection of wines.

There is plenty to amuse locals and guests, including Sky TV, showing football, cricket, rugby and golf, a pool table and board games.

The Dog and Bear is ideally placed to explore Lenham and its picturesque countryside or to visit Leeds Castle, just 10 minutes’ drive away. Just off the A20 and close to Junction 8 of the M20, the pub is conveniently placed to explore the whole of Kent and to enjoy walks on the North Downs.

Accommodation
The Dog and Bear has 24 en-suite bedrooms, including one with a four-poster bed, decorated in traditional village style.

Guests can soak up the historic atmosphere while still enjoying all the modern comforts available.

Each room is fully-equipped with Sky TV, a radio alarm clock, a hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities, a desk/work area and telephone. Internet facilities are available.

Bed and breakfast is available and bookings can be made online.

Functions
The dedicated function suite has its own bar and patio garden and is suitable for wedding receptions, birthday parties, christenings and meals for private groups.

A full bar and catering service is available, from sandwiches and finger buffets to a three-course meal, and the room accommodates approximately 50 guests.

Food
The hotel’s 80-seat restaurant serves a variety of good traditional pub food, freshly-prepared on the premises and presented with care and imagination.

The chef offers an extensive menu, including traditional favourites and daily specials, using seasonal ingredients from local producers whenever possible.

A traditional roast lunch is served on Sundays.

The Dog and Bear also has an excellent wine list, featuring a number of exclusive New World wines from specially-selected vineyards in Australia, New Zealand, Chile and South Africa.
