Details: The Crown Inn is a family run 16th century restaurant and free house set in the pretty village of Finglesham, near Deal in East Kent.

An integral part of village life for many centuries, our friendly pub continues to be the heart of the community and is popular with locals and visitors alike, who come to enjoy our fine range of real ales and delicious home-cooked food. With comfortable en suite accommodation available next door at Orchard Lodge, The Crown provides the perfect place to relax and unwind with a fine meal and bottle of wine.

Our range of fine real ales always includes at least one regularly changing guest beer, and is complimented by a choice of wines available by the glass or bottle. We also stock a good choice of bottled beers as well as a large selection of lagers, ciders, spirits and liqueurs.

We offer home-cooked bar snacks, lunches and evening meals, seven days a week. Served in the restaurant, bar or our pretty garden, the broad menu ranges from a bowl of home-made soup through to a juicy fillet steak cooked to your liking. Our popular Sunday lunches include traditional roast meats with all the trimmings, and we also cater well for vegetarians and children.

There are many interesting things to see and do in the local area, and The Crown is the home of Finglesham's two Bat & Trap teams, an enthusiastic cribbage society, and other traditional pub games such as cards, dominoes and Scrabble. You will often see a few locals puzzling over a cryptic crossword, while the garden provides a safe environment in which children can play on our range of equipment. A certified Caravan Club location, the pub's large field provides ample space in which to set up camp.

Opening hours:
11:00 - 15:00 and 18:00 - 23:00 (Mon - Sat)
12:00 - 22:30 (Sun)

What is 'Bat & Trap'?
This ancient Kentish tradition (indeed, it has been referred to as an 'art'!) is a centuries old outdoor game played between two teams of eight people on a grassed pitch. Bat & Trap is said to have originated as a game played between rows of trees in Kent's many fruit orchards, and this humble beginning perhaps accounts for the enormous variation in Bat & Trap pitch surfaces seen in our local league today. (There is even a pitch where the batsman must negotiate the roots and branches of an overhanging tree!) Bat & Trap is played at The Crown every Wednesday evening during the summer months, and onlookers are always welcome!

Caravans
Our large field is located at the rear of the pub, adjoining pretty countryside and providing plenty of room for our guests. Pitches are priced from £3 per night. No electrical hook-ups yet, but coming soon. The Crown is a Caravan Club certified location.

Set in the heart of White Cliffs Country, the village of Finglesham is surrounded by beautiful Kentish countryside as well as a rich diversity of heritage, nature reserves and recreational pursuits. There are many interesting things to see and do within easy reach of the village.
