Details: For many years Thurston Helicopters has trained people just like you, to become helicopter pilots. We enjoy our work as much as you will enjoy the experience of flying one of our well-equipped helicopters. Founded by James Tuke in 1989, the company is committed to helping its clients achieve, and enjoy, gaining their helicopter pilot’s licence.

Our location
Thurston Helicopters is situated at Headcorn in Kent. This centrally located spot in "The Garden of England" is in an idyllic setting. The airfield that we operate from has been there before the Second World War. It is a delightfully quaint place and ideal for Flight Training, as it offers a lot of free airspace and beautiful countryside to fly around in.

Our fleet
Our fleet consists of three Robinson R22 Beta IIs. All the machines are immaculately maintained and are equipped with the latest in avionics. We also have two R44 Raven Is (hydraulic) which are a joy to fly and one fabulous R44 Clipper II. This is fitted with a comprehensive avionics fit and an enhanced leather interior as well.
Why not treat yourself or your friends to a gift voucher. This entitles the holder to an experience flight or an introductory lesson (you take the controls!) in one of our helicopters here at Headcorn.
They make an ideal and really unusual Birthday, Christmas, Mother's or Fathers Day present. We normally supply vouchers that last for six months (the recipient must contact us before the expiry time to book the flight even though we may fly after the 6 month period). Please note that there are weight and height restrictions for all flights. If the person flying is over 6' 5" in height and/or over 16.5 stone in weight, then we cannot fly them in the R22s. However, we can cope with people up to 19-20 stone in the R44.
